WHAT IS MIRA?

Mira International Culture Society is an international association and a sociocultural arena for Finns and Foreigners living in Vaasa and the surrounding area.

We are establishing cultural and social communication between locals and new arrivals from abroad.

MIRA is a voluntary organization involved in activities related to helping people who have just moved here from another country to adapt to the new
environment.

We are working against social exclusion and racism by celebrating cultural diversity without prejudice.

We spread information and arrange exhibitions, concerts, meetings, festivities and other events.

Our activities are sociocultural work, especially among immigrants and refugees.

We also have an international dimension and are members of European youth network. Nowadays we are host organisation for bilateral youth and
cultural seminars, and we are also taking part in activities abroad.

We support the development of good relationships between people from different countries and promote the internationalization of society.

Our activities include organization of various meetings and round tables, as well as getting people together for dramatic and other performances
and other recreational activities where the informal atmosphere favours the development of relationships and communication between people.

We would like to stress that Mira is an informal organization with a flexible structure of activities which are quickly adjusted to the needs of the community.
